Automatic cling film packaging machine helps strawberry growers improve freshness preservation efficiency

Recently, Mr Zhang, a major strawberry grower from Changping in Beijing, and his team visited Beijing Lonco to test the machine, with the aim of solving the problem of preserving strawberries during transportation and enhancing the competitiveness of their products in the market.

As consumer demand for fresh fruit quality increases, the thin skin and perishable nature of strawberries means they require more advanced packaging and freshness preservation technology. Traditional manual packaging is inefficient, costly and difficult to standardise. The imported automatic cling film packaging machine, represented by Beijing Lonco, uses food-grade materials and intelligent packaging technology. It can seal a box of strawberries in 1 minute and 7 seconds, balance the humidity inside and outside the package and extend the freshness preservation period by more than 30%. The machine can operate continuously for 24 hours at a speed of 35 packages per minute, greatly improving packaging efficiency.

At the test site, the fresh strawberries brought by Mr Zhang were cleaned, sorted, and boxed before being fed into the Lonco packaging machine production line. The machine automatically adjusts the packing tension using high-precision sensors to prevent damage to the fruit, and uses low-temperature heat sealing technology to preserve the colour and flavour of the strawberries as much as possible. Following comparative testing, strawberries packaged using this equipment showed a spoilage rate nearly 50% lower than those packaged using traditional methods after 48 hours of simulated transport.

“This machine is easy to operate, packs 10 times faster than manually and reduces transport losses, which will help us expand our e-commerce sales.” Mr Zhang said that he plans to purchase the first batch of five machines in time for the end-of-year production season.

Industry experts point out that the popularity of automated packaging equipment will promote the standardisation of fresh produce. Beijing Lanco's close collaboration with growers this time signals that domestic intelligent equipment is accelerating the transformation and modernisation of agriculture.
